Ford is planning on producing two more EV pickups. After its great success with the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Blue Oval has decided to continue its EV endeavors by adding an electric Ford Ranger and Maverick to its lineup. This news comes from a recent trademark filing with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. According to the office, Ford filed trademarks for the Ranger Lighting and Maverick Lightning nameplates. The Blue Oval has not yet confirmed these new EVs, but based on the success of the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, it’s likely that these new EV pickups will be next up on Ford’s list. For now, we’ll take a look at what this could mean for the Ford Ranger and Maverick.

New Trademarks For Ford Ranger & Maverick Lightning

According to a recent trademark filing with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, there may be two all-new all-electric Ford pickups on the way. Based on the filings, it seems that Ford is working on an all-new Ford Ranger Lightning and Ford Maverick Lightning. Given the recent success of the F-150 Lightning, Ford sees the potential in offering additional EV pickups. Since the Ranger and Maverick are smaller than the F-150, these new EVs may be offered at a lower price, thus allowing more consumers to get their hands on an EV pickup.

Alongside the Ford Ranger and Maverick Lightning were several other trademarks that were filed with the U.S Intellectual Property Office. These included the F-150 Thunder, Ranger Thunder, and Maverick Thunder. We’re not sure what these variants could be, but they may be either new trims or hybrid models. Ford initially built the Maverick as a smaller hybrid pickup, so it’s more likely that the Thunder name is for either a new trim or an all-electric version.

While Ford has not released any information about these potential new EV pickup trucks, it’s very likely that they will utilize similar equipment used in the F-150 Lightning. These include a dual-motor setup as well as an extended battery which will offer more battery mile range. The electric pickups may also feature several trims which will focus on added performance and luxury. Ford is still trying to increase production of the F-150 Lightning, so we will probably not see the new electric pickups until production ramps up. For now, we’ll be staying tuned for more information.
