Ford Will Begin Delivery of All-New F-150 Lightning
After a long wait, the 2022 F-150 Lightning will finally be available for purchase. Upon its debut, Ford allowed consumers to place reservation orders online for the all-electric pickup. Now, those patient customers will soon have their F-150 Lightning delivered. Ford first announced its production of the 2022 F-150 Lightning in April of 2022. Fleet customers were one of the first to see their F-150 Lightning pickup trucks delivered. Dealerships have also been given an assortment of electric pickups to sell. Now it seems retail customers will also have their F-150 Lightning delivered as evidenced by one Michigan customer who received theirs on May 26th.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will come equipped with a dual-motor setup that will provide 564 horsepower and 775lb-ft of torque. Owners will also have strong towing capability. The 2022 F-150 Lightning will have 10,000 pounds of towing capacity and 2,000 pounds of payload. In terms of battery range, the all-electric pickup will have an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles. For those wanting more range, Ford will offer a range-extending battery that will increase the battery range to 300 miles.
Inside the F-150 Lightning, owners will note a 15.5-inch touchscreen that serves as the infotainment screen. This touchscreen grants owners access to over-the-air updates as well as Ford’s SYNC4A cloud-based connectivity service. Owners can also utilize Ford’s BlueCruise which is an advanced hands-free driving feature that uses driver-facing cameras and radar sensing technology. At its base price, the 2022 F-150 Lighting will start at an MSRP of $39,974 (plus destination fee). This year, Ford will be producing about 40,000 units of the 2022 F-150 Lightning. Many customers have already reserved an F-150 Lightning, but those wanting one will be in luck as the Blue Oval will increase its production amount to 150,000 units by the end of 2023.
