In the midst of electric vehicles, the 2023 Ford Maverick combines the best of both worlds. The hybrid compact pickup truck was initially offered by Ford as an introduction to EVs. Now, as the Blue Oval enjoys success with its all-electric F-150 Lightning, the 2023 Maverick is once again offering its versatility. While EVs like the Lightning and Mustang Mach-E provide owners with high performance and fully electric capabilities, some consumers may not be fully ready to transition to EVs. For those still in need of a combustion engine work truck, there’s the Maverick. Starting at an MSRP of $22,195 (plus destination fee), here are 5 reasons why consumers should consider the 2023 Ford Maverick.

1) Engine

Aside from the affordability of the 2023 Ford Maverick, one of the benefits of the pickup truck is its hybrid capability. The compact pickup arrives standard with a naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor. Altogether this setup delivers 191 horsepower and 155lb-ft of torque. This hybrid setup also pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission and offers front-wheel drive. Owners with this hybrid setup will enjoy impressive fuel economy and strong performance.

For those wanting higher performance, the 2023 Maverick offers a non-hybrid powertrain with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. This delivers 250 horsepower and 277lb-ft of torque and pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Owners can also opt for all-wheel drive with this powertrain. With the 2.0L, owners will enjoy a 0-60 mph of 5.9 seconds.

2) Towing

Another reason to consider the 2023 Ford Maverick is its towing capacity. The compact pickup truck is extremely versatile given its impressive performance and efficiency. When equipped with the hybrid powertrain, the Maverick gets a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds. When using the turbocharged engine, the maximum towing capacity increases to 4,000 pounds.

3) Fuel Economy

If consumers opt for the hybrid powertrain, the 2023 Ford Maverick will offer unmatched fuel economy. The compact pickup gets 42 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway when equipped with the 2.5L engine. Combined, the pickup gets 37 mpg. While the non-hybrid setup offers higher performance, it does reduce fuel efficiency. With the 2.0L owners will receive 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

4) Interior

The interior cabin increases the 2023 Maverick’s appeal significantly. The compact pickup offers a crew cab setup that comfortably fits 5 passengers. Higher trims like the XLT and Lariat offer dual-zone climate controls, viny desert brown seats, and ambient lighting. Wide armrests ensure comfortable drives and with 33.3 cubic feet of space, there’s plenty of room for storage. Several storage cubbies and bins help with this. Of course, there’s also the 4.5-foot bed that comes with a 12-volt power point and a 110-volt outlet.

5) Safety and Driver-Assist Features

The 2023 Ford Maverick offers owners Ford CoPilot 360. This advanced safety suite offers features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warnings. There is also a reverse camera system that works with the 8-inch touchscreen. Finally, owners can take advantage of adaptive cruise control.
