The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E will soon be getting a new driver-assist feature courtesy of Apple. This new feature will provide Mach-E owners with a better routing system to help them locate compatible charging stops. As of late, many automakers have been working to produce highly capable and efficient EVs. Ford is no stranger to this with its high-performance F-150 Lightning. In order to take full advantage of EVs however, drivers must have access to charging stations, both at home and on the road. Thankfully Ford has been working on its own grid of charging stations and now paired with Apple’s technology, EV owners will have an easier time accessing them. We’ll learn more about Apple’s driver-assist feature, but this is great news for Mach-E owners.

Apple to Provide Mach-E With Routing Service

Apple will be bringing its EV routing service to the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Apple first discussed this routing service at the 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference. There, Apple explained that it would work together with automakers to create a driver-assist feature that could assess “charge level, elevation, and compatible charging stops” along a driver’s route. Although it has been 2 years since that conference, Apple is finally ready to implement its driver-assist feature into Ford EVs like the Mustang Mach-E. Apple will also work alongside BMW to implement these features into their EVs.

Apple’s new driver-assist feature will help aid drivers by locating charging stations for them as they travel throughout the United States. According to Apple, the service will work in vehicles with iOS14. This includes the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E as well as some 2021 Mach-E models. This isn’t to say that the Mach-E won’t come equipped with its own routing feature, but Apple’s feature will be more accessible for iPhone users. It will also provide additional diagnostic information.

Owners of the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be able to access Apple’s routing service through their infotainment system. It will be compatible with CarPlay. Aside from finding charging stations, the service can determine how much battery the vehicle will have left once drivers reach their destination. If Apple can implement this feature into more EVs, it will be a great benefit for those traveling long distances. For now, we’ll be waiting for more information about the EV routing service.
