Ford will be updating the all-new 2023 Ford Explorer with a new refresh. This refresh will be available for the Chinese version of the Explorer though it has not been confirmed if American markets will see similar updates. As of late, the Blue Oval has been focusing on producing new EVs. Given how well received the F-150 Lightning and Mach-E were, Ford has been focusing on other EV variants like the Ranger and Maverick Lightning. There have also been rumors of an electric Ford Explorer. Before Ford reaches that point, however, it seems the automaker wants to provide the latest updates for its combustion engine lineup. We’ll take a look at the newly updated 2023 Ford Explorer and see what consumers can expect.

2023 Ford Explorer Sees Updates

Ford will be providing the all-new 2023 Ford Explorer with several updates. These updates were initially rumors, but now they have been confirmed. It is still uncertain however if these updates will only be for the Chinese Explorer model. Ford has not yet stated if American markets will see the new updates. Despite this uncertainty, it’s good to see Ford giving attention to its combustion engine lineup.

The first noticeable update to the new 2023 Ford Explorer is its front grille. The mid-size SUV receives a wider grille as well as new chrome accents. The 2023 Explorer also receives redesigned LED headlights. Ford has also provided the mid-size SUV with 21-inch alloy wheels that feature a turbine fan design. At the rear of the SUV, owners will note a pair of wider taillights as well as Explorer lettering which has replaced the Ford badge on the tailgate. There’s also a chrome bar between the taillights that is thinner and wider than previous generations.

Another notable change to the 2023 Ford Explorer is inside the mid-size SUV. This change is a large 27-inch infotainment touchscreen that sits in the middle of the dashboard. Since the screen takes up most of the climate control buttons, the central air vents have been placed lower. This theme of larger screens seems to be a common trend among automakers, but it does serve as a more intuitive way to use navigation systems and apps. We’re not sure if these changes will make their way to American versions of the Explorer, but it’s nice to see Ford providing updates. Those interested in the 2023 Ford Explorer will be able to place their orders on August 11th. Production of the SUV will begin on November 7th.
