Ford’s strategic approach to offering customers freedom of choice across gas, hybrid, and electric vehicles has proven to be a significant driver of success in the first quarter of the year (2024). The reception from customers towards this diverse lineup has not only led to increased sales but also boosted the automaker’s share gains.

In the United States, Ford and Lincoln experienced a remarkable uptick in sales, outpacing the industry with a notable 7 percent increase. The recent surge in sales can be attributed to consumers’ growing preference for hybrid trucks and SUVs, contributing to Ford’s best-ever quarterly hybrid sales record.

One standout performer in this category is the Ford Maverick, which clinched the title of America’s No. 1 selling hybrid truck in Q1. Its sales soared by an impressive 77 percent compared to the previous year (2023), reaching 19,660 units. Overall, hybrid vehicle sales in Q1 witnessed a substantial 42 percent increase, with total sales of 38,421 vehicles, indicating a promising trajectory for hybrid growth in the foreseeable future.

Ford’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric experiences is evident through offerings like Pickup & Delivery, Mobile Service, and BlueCruise hands-free highway driving, which Ford consumers have well-received. These convenient services and the introduction of new models, such as the F-150 hybrid, have propelled Ford to achieve its best-ever hybrid vehicle sales in over two decades.

“With the new F-150 and all-new Ranger sales beginning in March along with the strong performance of our all-new Lincoln Nautilus and Nautilus Hybrid, we’re in a strong position to capitalize and grow as we move through 2024. And that’s before customers experience services like Pickup & Delivery and Mobile Service – now totaling 250,000 U.S. experiences a month – and technologies like BlueCruise.”

Furthermore, Ford’s dominance in the truck segment was reaffirmed with the magic pony maker emerging as America’s best-selling truck manufacturer, including pickups and vans. The Ford Maverick and F-Series have showcased remarkable sales figures, solidifying their leadership positions in their respective car segments.

The success story extends beyond hybrid vehicles. Ford brand SUVs achieved an all-time best quarter in Q1, recording total sales of 216,997 units, marking a 15 percent increase compared to the previous year. Notable performers include the Explorer, Escape, Bronco Sport, and Expedition, each contributing to the brand’s overall growth.

In summary, Ford’s strategic focus on offering customers a diverse range of vehicle options and innovative services and technologies has propelled the company to a strong start in 2024, setting the stage for continued success in the competitive automotive market.
