Ford Evolves BlueCruise to Monthly Subscription

Ford continues to step up its game; this time, the automaker offers even more options for enthusiasts to access its BlueCruise technology. The American automaker now includes the necessary hardware as a standard feature straight from the factory. It’s excellent news for those interested in this cutting-edge, hands-free highway driving technology. 

Blue Oval enthusiasts now have the option to activate BlueCruise at any time during their vehicle ownership journey. Whether Ford fans start the subscription at purchase, annually, or monthly, the choice is always up to the enthusiasts. Additionally, Ford is offering a complimentary trial of BlueCruise for those who choose not to activate it at purchase. By the 2024 model year, Ford plans to install BlueCruise hardware on 500,000 vehicles in North America across both Ford and Lincoln brands, expanding availability to electric and gas-powered cars.

With an appreciation for BlueCruise, Ford fans will be pleased to know that they can order or purchase a vehicle with BlueCruise, which has already been an active tool for three years. Enthusiasts can add Ford’s riveting technology to their vehicle financing at the time of purchase. For those who want to experience BlueCruise before committing to it, a complimentary 90-day trial is available from the vehicle’s purchase date. At the end of the subscription or anytime during vehicle ownership, Ford fans can activate BlueCruise annually or monthly. No minimum commitment is required so that Blue Oval fans can start BlueCruise for a month or a year, depending on their needs. For instance, enthusiasts can activate it for a one-month road trip and not use it again for another year, similar to a Netflix subscription.

Previously, customers had to decide whether or not to install the hardware for this feature when ordering their vehicle. But now, the Blue Oval automaker has made things much more manageable by removing this burden from customers. So now, no one has to decide upfront if they want access to this incredible technology – it’s all taken care of. 

Earlier in the year (2023), Ford released BlueCruise 1.2, and now the automaker is ready to launch BlueCruise 1.3. This latest generation of BlueCruise is designed to improve hands-free highway driving, with enhanced performance when driving around curves and in narrow lanes. According to internal testing, BlueCruise 1.3 stays engaged in hands-free mode for an average of 5 times longer than the first version of BlueCruise, BlueCruise 1.0. 

To verify access and status for BlueCruise, simply check the FordPass App or Ford Account under Connected Services. If the Ford vehicle has BlueCruise capabilities, it will be listed under Connected Services along with the status and start date of the active service plan.
