The 2023 Ford Explorer will be receiving a new facelift. The mid-size SUV was recently unveiled in China sporting a new look as well as some new interior updates. It is not yet clear if these changes will make their way to American markets, but it’s nice to see Ford updating its lineup. As of late, the Blue Oval has been focused on its EVs like the F-150 Lightning and Mach-E. Ford has also been working toward splitting its company into Ford Blue and Ford Model E. This would allow the Blue Oval to prioritize its combustion engine lineup as well as its new EV lineup. While there have been rumors of an electric Ford Explorer, we’ll be taking a look at the newly updated 2023 Ford Explorer and see what consumers can expect.

2023 Ford Explorer Receives Facelift & New Features

The 2023 Ford Explorer has been revealed. The mid-size SUV was rumored to have undergone several changes and according to Ford’s China reveal, the Explorer has been refreshed inside and out. We’re not sure if these new changes will carry over to American markets, but it’s likely that U.S consumers will see some version of the updates. While the 2023 Ford Explorer sees a redesigned exterior and new interior features, it will still arrive with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine that’s capable of 272 horsepower and 313lb-ft of torque. This engine will come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The first change to the new 2023 Ford Explorer is to its exterior. The mid-size SUV now has a more prominent front grille that is wider with chrome accents. The Explorer also receives redesigned LED headlights. At the rear of the SUV, the taillights are wider and the skid plate is further emphasized with dual exhaust pipes. There’s also a thinner chrome bar between the taillights and overall, the Explorer’s dimensions are longer than the previous version. Ford has also equipped the mid-size SUV with 21-inch alloy wheels.

The second change to the 2023 Explorer is inside the interior cabin. The mid-size SUV now arrives with a 27-inch infotainment touchscreen that sits in the middle of the dashboard. The dashboard has also been redesigned to accommodate the larger horizontally-oriented screen. All of the Explorer trims will feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a heads-up display. The SUV will also feature a premium audio system and advanced driver assist features. Those interested in the 2023 Ford Explorer will be happy to know that order banks have already opened. Production of the mid-size SUV is set to start on November 7th.
