The 2022 Ford Bronco has been the perfect blend of performance and nostalgia. Ford’s revival of the iconic four-by-four SUV has been a huge boost for the automaker. The Blue Oval was able to modernize the Bronco and make it a top contender among competitors like Jeep and Subaru. With its rack-and-pinion steering and independent front suspension, the 2022 Ford Bronco has proved a highly capable and versatile vehicle. With an affordable MSRP of $29,300 (plus destination fee), the Bronco makes a great choice for the consumer who wants both off-road and on-road functionality. To further prove that point, we’ll be taking a look at six defining features that give the Bronco its special spark.

1. Easter Eggs

The Ford Bronco comes equipped with several easter eggs, a nod toward the Jeep Wrangler and its hidden silhouettes. Ford added some that are in plain sight, such as the engine-start button which resembles the Bronco’s headlights, while others are harder to spot. One of these is a ratchet with ‘Bronco’ engraved on it that comes included in the supplied toolkit (which is needed to remove the doors). Another little detail is on the inside of the fuel flap. Looking closely, owners will note the three generations of the Bronco pictured above the fuel filler. Other neat easter eggs include the plaque on the center console, lassos carved into the plastic that holds the cargo tie-downs, and ‘Est. 1996’ on the windshield.

2. Off-Road Features

The 2022 Ford Bronco features a special G.O.A.T mode feature which provides it with the ultimate off-road performance. The acronym stands for ‘Goes Over Any Type of Terrain’ and Ford included several different driving modes in it that all affect the Bronco’s steering, handling, and powertrain performance. There’s the normal mode which is the default. It’s intended for everyday driving. There’s also Eco mode, Sport mode, and Slippery mode.

Also included in the G.O.A.T feature are sand mode, mud/rut mode, rock crawl mode, Baja mode, and Front Trail Camera mode. The sand and mud/rut mode are for specific terrain while rock crawl is for exploration and off-road bouldering. Baja mode optimizes the suspension and the front trail camera mode shows a view of the trail ahead through the infotainment screen. This helps assist with blocked or obscured terrain.

3. Easy-to-Remove Doors

Another cool feature about the 2022 Bronco are its easily removable doors. The process is neither difficult nor long, though putting everything back on can be a bit troublesome. To remove the doors, owners must undo the electrical connector and remove two bolts per door. The ratchet in the supplied toolkit makes short work of this. Owners can then lift the doors off using the designated handles. They are a bit heavy, but they’re easy to manage due to the frameless window design. It should be noted that the Bronco owner’s manual states that door removal is for ‘off-road use only’.

To put the doors back on the 2022 Bronco takes a bit longer. It can be tricky to line up each hinge while also maneuvering the door. The doors weigh about 50 pounds so help may be required. Taking the three roof panels off the Bronco is also easy to manage. If owners want to remove the rear panel, it’s recommended to get a second person to assist.

4. Comfortable Driving Experience

The 2022 Bronco offers owners a smooth and comfortable driving experience. Ford offers either a turbocharged 2.3L inline-four or a twin-turbo 2.7L V6 as engine options. Both have plenty of torque, and with the Bronco’s 37.2-degree departure angle and 11.6 inches of ground clearance, the Bronco is capable of braving almost any terrain smoothly. Responsive handling and smooth shifts from the 10-speed automatic transmission make the Bronco an optimal everyday vehicle.

5. Standard Safety Features

The fifth defining feature of the 2022 Bronco is its active safety features. All Broncos come standard with forward-collision warnings and automatic emergency braking regardless of trim. Other safety features like blind-spot warnings, rear cross-traffic warnings, lane departure warnings, and lane-keep assist are optional.

6. Affordable Price

The sixth defining feature of the 2022 Ford Bronco is its affordable price. Starting at an MSRP of $29,300 (plus destination fee), the Bronco serves as a reasonably priced SUV given its capability and versatility. Varying trims scale in price, but each offers additional features and higher-scaled luxury design elements. For the would-be adventurer, the 2022 Bronco is a great choice.
