Ford Super Duty is a Finalist for 2024 Truck of the Year

November 24th, 2023 by

In the last three years, Ford has attained an exceptional achievement by securing the North American Truck of the Year accolade three times consecutively. The Ford F-150 claimed the award in 2021, succeeded by the all-new Ford Maverick in 2022 and the electrifying Ford F-150 Lightning in 2023. This impressive winning streak may potentially persist in 2024, as both the recently revamped Ford Ranger and the all-new Ford Super Duty were nominated for the award a few months ago.

2024 North American Truck

Truck enthusiasts all over the world have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the nominees for the prestigious 2024 North American Truck of the Year, and the wait is finally over. Out of the initial 52 qualified entries, only 25 models were able to make it through the rigorous vetting process to secure a spot in the top three. Unfortunately, the Ford Ranger didn’t make it to the final round of the competition, but the Ford Super Duty managed to secure a place among the top contenders. This year, the Super Duty is up against tough competition from General Motors’ two impressive trucks – the Chevy Colorado and the Chevy Silverado EV. It’s worth noting that the original lineup included the Ranger and GMC Canyon, but they were disqualified during the selection process.

The competition for the coveted North American Truck of the Year award for 2024 is sure to be intense, with such a strong lineup of trucks vying for the top spot. The Chevy Colorado boasts impressive towing capacity, payload, and fuel efficiency, while the Chevy Silverado EV is an all-electric truck that offers exceptional power and speed, albeit it lives under the shadow of Ford’s exception F-150 Lightning. On the other hand, the Ford Super Duty is a reliable and sturdy truck that has been a favorite among truck enthusiasts for years.

The judges will have a tough time choosing a winner from such a strong lineup, and truck enthusiasts around the world will be eagerly waiting to see who takes home the coveted North American Truck of the Year award for 2024. One thing is for sure: whoever wins this year’s award will have truly earned it, given the fierce competition and the high-quality trucks that are in the running.

A panel of 50 jurors carried out a thorough evaluation process to determine the winners in each category. The evaluation process involved a comprehensive analysis of each vehicle in all possible ways. The process commenced with an annual comparison drive at the Detroit Auto Show in Michigan, followed by individual and collective assessment of the vehicles by the jurors. After careful deliberation, the jurors then cast their votes to identify the top three finalists in each category. The winners will be announced at a special event scheduled to take place in Detroit on January 4th, 2024.

“Electric vehicles again make up more than half of our finalists,” said NACTOY President Jeff Gilbert. “That shows how important they are to carmakers and how many more choices car buyers now have. But there is a lot of variety in this group, including a big work truck, a hybrid and a family sedan.”
