It was only a month ago; Ford revealed the 2022 full-sized Expedition SUV. In addition, Ford introduced the Expedition’s keen style and, more specifically, a new trim, the off-road Timberline model. The new Timberline variation stands out above the rest because of Overlanding.

Overlanding is a pastime combination of off-roading and camping. The Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept debuted over the weekend (October 11, 2021) at the Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia. The Timberline Off-Grid concept is a showoff but holds so much potential as a proper Expedition vehicle.

The Off-Grid Concept received a Forged Green exterior with the addition of custom topographic wrapping from CG Detroit. Though the Expedition Timberline maintains 10.6 inches of ground clearance, the Off-Grid Concept receives two inches. The Timberline Concept also gains Fox Performance Elite Series 2.5-inch shocks and Dual Speed Compression adjusters and remote reservoirs for the front and the rear.

The Timberline trim accelerates on stock 18-inch wheels and 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler AT tires. However, the Timberline Concept treads on competitors with 17-inch Method Race Wheels and 35-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires. Additionally, the Concept provides DeeZee Rock Rail Hoop Steps to make climbing into the high-rise SUV way too easy.

Suppose Ford Expedition enthusiasts require a specific accessory from the Off-Grid Concept; every addition is located at any local Ford dealership. So if customers wish to acquire the Thule Tepui Explorer tent for the roof, the Overland Vehicle Systems Nomadic 180-degree awning, or even the Wild Land portable privacy room shower, all these and many more are available through Ford dealers.

Ford’s factory available transmission shield provides plenty of auxiliary lighting for a nighttime trail excursion along with a 50-inch Rigid light bar above the windshield, a 20-inch Rigid light bar beneath the grille, and a D-SS Rigid cube light on the hood of the Off-Grid. Also, look at the wheel wells and liftgate and lightings placed there; switching the lights to red allows for a beautiful night of stargazing.

Ford also installed a Luno camping mattress for two inside the Concept, an EZ STAK aluminum storage unit, window shades, and a portable USB fan. There’s even a Clarios AGM battery providing electricity essential for the Off-Grid’s electronics.

The first photo above also displays a piece of the Turtleback Expedition Series Trailer. Additionally, the trailer trots on Method wheels and Grabber all-terrain tires. A look inside the trailer and customers will find a two-burner propane stove, deep well sink, 42-gallon water tank, a six-gallon water heater with external shower hookup, and drop-down tables.

Now that the Expedition Timberline Off-Grid debuted at the Overland Expo East, it’s on its way to the SEMA show in Las Vegas, which begins November 2, 2021.
