Mystery Electric Truck in the Works for Ford
Ford wastes no time looking in the rearview mirror as the automaker looks to expand its electric lineup. The F-150 Lightning was a huge success when it debuted, and the automaker wishes to catch that same thunder with a new electric truck slated for 2025. There are few details to share about the future pickup, but the all-electric vehicle will premiere alongside an Explorer EV, Mustang Mach-E, and F-150 Lightning. The Blue Oval’s electric lineup is shaping up nicely for its sustainability goals.
In April (2022), our favorite (Ford) CEO, Jim Farley, hinted at a future “Blue Oval City campus” in Tenessee. Ford’s future electric truck will render an “all-new” nameplate and will not be a redesigned Lightning. Furthermore, Farley intends for the all-electric vehicle to solidify the Blue Oval as a leader in EV trucks.
“While details are scarce, it could be a distinctly styled full-size pickup under the F-Series umbrella that would be marketed more toward retail buyers while the traditional Lightning made in Michigan would be focused on commercial sales.” -Automotive News.
The Blue Oval has no intentions of electrifying an existing lineup, such as the Bronco or Maverick, which solidifies the automaker’s confidence through this electric transition. A Ford report revealed the automaker plans to begin production of its all-electric Explorer by the end of 2024. Additionally, the electric Explorer will come to life at Ford’s Oakville, Ontario, factory. Furthermore, the Oakville facility will become an EV-only factory, and the ICE-engined Edge and Lincoln Nautilus will need to find new plants.
Farley has teased a possible all-electric variation of the Bronco and Maverick. However, at this moment, By 2024, we expect a hybrid variation of the Bronco to show Jeep Wrangler 4xe enthusiasts the actual definition of performance. Moreover, PHEV models of the Bronco Sport and Ranger are also underway.
